- United Arab Emirates: Monday, November 24 - 2003 at 13:54
- PRESS RELEASE
GEMS, Global Education Management Systems has recently signed a contract with Al Kamda General Trading for the construction of a 400-meter, six-lane running track at Dubai American Academy.
"The construction of the running track to official specifications is seen as yet another step towards enhancing the educational standards that Dubai American Academy offers to all its students," commented Mr. Hugh MacPherson, Chief Operating Officer for GEMS, the education management firm which manages Dubai American Academy and numerous other international schools in the region and the United Kingdom.
Under the terms of the agreement, Al Kamda will start work on the running track next month. The artificial surface running track, set on Dubai American Academy's 1,000,000 square foot site will complement the many sports facilities and resources already available at Dubai American Academy.
"We are very enthusiastic about this venture with GEMS as we share the same values of quality and high levels of customer satisfaction. Taking this partnership forward, we would like to provide GEMS with an exceptional level of service and our technical know-how, thus strengthening the sports infrastructure at Dubai American Academy." commented Reg Cox, Managing Partner of Al Kamda General Trading.
Officials at Dubai American Academy announced that the construction of the six-lane running track is a part of their expansion project that is scheduled to be completed by September 2004. The expansion plan will feature state-of-the-art facilities to augment the learning experience of students. The new Primary block will include exceptional Laboratories, Language labs, Multi-media Center, Library and a number of indoor activity areas to add a whole new dimension to the learning process.
The Dubai American Academy opened in 1998 in Jumeirah and moved to its new, state of the art, multi-million-dirham facility in Al Barsha last year. The school teaches an enriched American curriculum to students from over 55 different countries.
