- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, November 30 - 2003 at 15:18
- PRESS RELEASE
Motor racing fans in the Middle East are in for a rare treat as double European Supertruck Racing champions Buggyra are to exhibit their supercharged streamlined monster machines at the 7th middle East International Motorshow from December 11th to 15th, announced organisers Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
"Super truck racing brings all the thrills and spills associated with the more well known Formula One and NASCAR circuits and adds to it the awe-inspiring sight of huge supercharged trucks careening and manoeuvering around the circuit at mind-boggling speeds, added Mr bin Fahad.
The Czech-based Buggyra team has created waves on the European Super Truck Racing circuit by winning the overall title only in their second year of competition in the 10-leg championships. Up against top-drawer competition from the established big-name trucks, the private team with their two innovative Buggyra MK 002 trucks managed to win the overall championships last year.
"Our tour to the United Arab Emirates is part of our plan to popularise the sport of Super Truck Racing in the Middle East which already has a huge number of auto sport fans, said Buggyra Project Leader Martin Koloc. "Our team are driving down from the Czech Republic to the UAE through Bulgaria, Turkey, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. Participating in the 7th Middle East International Motorshow is an important part of our itinerary as it is the show that sets the standards for the auto industry in the region.," he added.
The MK 002 trucks will be on display at the Motorshow to give visitors a first-hand, up close look at the championship winning vehicles. The team will stay on in the UAE to participate in the Dubai Shopping Festival and participate in the Super Truck Speed Challenge in February to try and break the 302 km/h speed record.
The latest high performance cars from around the world, the most modern in automobile technology and design from global car manufacturers - are put on display at this biennial automobile exhibition - the biggest of its kind in the Middle East.
More than 64 manufacturers, customizers and designers from 17 countries will display the latest in motorcars, luxury vehicles, 4-wheel drives, sports utility vehicles, concept cars, bikes, trikes, quads, off-terrain buggies, high performance sports cars, custom-built vehicles, commercial vehicles as well as motor parts and accessories, lubricants, car cosmetics, finish products, and a host of automotive fashion accessories.
Buyers, car aficionados and admirers will be treated to the single largest display of vehicles in the Middle East which will enable discerning visitors to study, compare and select the latest in design and technology that the industry has to offer.
The automobile industry in some countries in the Middle East such as the UAE is vibrant and a large number of new and pre-used cars are sold every year. Every year new models of passenger cars are introduced and customers in the region keep pace with the latest versions of automobile technology as well as design launched globally. Middle East International Motor Show allows car manufacturers and the aftermarket to display their latest products and also get a feel of the emerging trend in the regional automobile industry.
