GEMS, Global Education Management Systems, a principal education provider in the region and the UK, has selected a large number of advanced laptops, Tablet PCs, PDAs and servers from leading IT company, Fujitsu Siemens Computers (FSC), in its drive to upgrade its Information Technology (IT) infrastructure at its various schools.

The move is meant to enhance the use of IT at the classroom level by providing students with the best of breed products available in the local market.

GEMS, which manages a growing network of international schools in the region and in the UK, is engaged in further enhancing its teaching and learning environments, using IT, that allows students access to some of the most advanced PCs and laptops available.

"The latest deal with FSC to supply and install some of its sophisticated PCs, laptops, Tablet PCs and PDA's represents yet another progressive step towards the development of wireless technology in our schools. This will help our students to meet the challenges of the future," said Sidney D'Rosario, Assistant Vice President - ICT, for GEMS.

"The IT revolution is driving educational institutions to replace their traditional methods of blackboard-based teaching with IT-based tools that offer more versatility, effectiveness and convenience to both students and teachers," said Colin Britto, Sales Manager Large Enterprises, Gulf Region, Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "Our worldwide experience in creating customised solutions for various sectors, including educational institutions, puts FSC in a position to provide business value with IT by supplying the latest computers to GEMS.
