Dubai Media City wins Brand of the Decade Award

Dubai Media City (DMC), an entity of the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone, was announced lately 'Winner' in the Government, Semi-government and NGO's category of the prestigious 'Gulf Brands of the Decade Awards'.

The nomination came in recognition of the effectiveness of its brand strategy and individuality of its identity.

Organised by Gulf Marketing Review as part of celebrations marking its 10th anniversary, the Awards aimed at recognising the success of regional companies during the past decade in developing strong, profitable brands.

The Award was also bestowed to Dubai Media City in recognition of the level of awareness it has created and the clarity of communicating its own vision and mission that granted DMC's name a well-established identity throughout the region and the world.

"Dubai Media City was specifically established to promote Dubai as an exceptional platform for regional and global media players," Abdulhamid Juma, CEO of Dubai Media City said. "I would like to credit this Award to the sincere efforts exerted by the initial team who helped build Dubai Media City and to everyone who helped bring DMC brand to this level of excellence", Juma added.

"With remarkable success in establishing its position as global media hub for talent, ideas and creativity, Dubai Media City has always been focusing on the elements of Speed, Innovation and Customer service in building an environment for media specialists to excel", DMC's CEO explained.

Since its launch in January 2001, DMC brand has been a resounding success. Over 780 companies and 260 media professionals have sought to locate in the Free Zone and avail of DMC's offerings. The businesses range from Broadcasting, Publishing, Media & Marketing Services, News Agencies & Media Research, Music, Filmed Entertainment, New Media to Production and Post Production.

"Dubai Media City" succinctly describes the brand. It clearly portrays the media eco system that it was meant to be. In addition, it rides on the success of 'Dubai' as a brand itself.

The Gulf Brands of the Decade Awards were introduced to companies based - or with their primary operations- in the Arab world while they should have emerged and flourished only during the past 10 years.

Gulf Marketing Review stated that call for entries began in May 2003, while all nominated brands had been researched by two respected research companies and judged by independent panel of judges comprising academics and industry seniors.

More than 1,000 marketeers were canvassed before the panel of expert judges reviewed the quality of brand communications to select a winner and a highly commended in each of the ten categories of the awards.
