German delegation in Dubai

The bilateral non-oil trade with Germany through Dubai's ports reached around $1.7 billion in 2002.

This was confirmed by Mr. Abdul Rahman Ghanim Al Mutaiwee, the Director General of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry when he received a German Commercial delegation in the Dubai Chamber.

This delegation represented the Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Belifeld, situated near Hanover. The Chamber has more than 80,000 members, most of which are small and medium sized companies, but also includes some of the largest German corporations of various sectors.

The delegation was headed by Dr Harld Grief, the Deputy Director General of the Chamber, and Dr. Jurgen Friedrich, the Official Delegate of German Industry and Commerce.

Al Mutaiwee expressed his confidence that this visit will pave the way for a development in current relations between the UAE and Germany in General and Dubai specifically, and mentioned that the cooperation between the businessmen on both sides will consolidate the trade relations and joint investment ventures.
From his side, the head of the delegation praised the development Dubai has witnessed in the different sectors especially in the trade and commercial and investment sectors.

Dr. Friedrich highlighted the active role played by the Belifeld Chamber in cooperation with the Federation of German Chambers which represents over 100 German Chambers inside Germany and internationally.

He also praised the role of the German office for cooperation and financial services in consolidating the cooperation between the business community in Germany and Dubai.

Dr. Friedrich announced that the Germany / Dubai Cooperation Forum will be held in Munich for two days from 26th to 28th May next year, with the support of the Federation of German Chambers and the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
