Architects visit Dubai

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry is hosting networking meetings between German engineers and architects and their counterparts from Dubai. The delegation was received by Mr. Ahmed Al Banna, the Deputy Director General of DCCI.
The delegation which is part of a program called "Professionals in Dialogue", is headed by Dr Jurgen Friedrich, the Official Delegate of German Industry and Commerce and the head of the German Commercial office in Dubai, and Dr Cornelius, the President of the Federation of Engineers and architects.
"Professionals in Dialogue" is an initiative supported by the Federal Ministry of Economics and labor which aims to introduce the abilities of German engineers and architects to the UAE.
The program involves a two day visit to Dubai based in the Dubai Chamber of Commerce building, and a two visit to Abu Dhabi, where the delegates who represent some of the top engineering and designing companies in Germany will meet with their counterparts to introduce their work and build foundations for any future business deals and cooperation.
The networking meeting began with a welcoming note from Dr Friedrich, who highlighted the importance of promoting German engineers to firiegn markets, and thanked the Dubai Chamber for its important role in bringing the German delegation together with their counterparts in Dubai, and providing the German Commercial office in Dubai with the necessary support.
Mr. Ahmed Al Banna welcomed his guests, and praised the strong relationship between the two countries, as Germany is considered to be a major trading partner with the UAE in general and Dubai specifically.
The Deputy Director General also discussed the opportunities available for Germany in the construction and engineering sectors in Dubai, as Dubai has witnessed a massive surge in this sector over the past few years. There were 1581 commercial and residential units built in 1998, compared with 2259 units in 2002, marking a growth rate of more than 120%.
Mr. Al Banna assured the delegation that they have the full support and backing of the Chamber, thanked them for choosing the UAE as a destination for future business ventures and wished them success on this visit with meeting their counterparts in Dubai.
The networking meeting showed signs of success even in its early stages, as it attracted many leading local companies from the engineering and construction sectors.
