- PRESS RELEASE
His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence and His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan yesterday (December 13th) toured the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC)-organised 7th Middle East International Motorshow currently ongoing at DWTC complex till December 15th.
While making their way around what is easily the region's most comprehensive, representative and influential automobile show, Sheikh Mohammed and Sheikh Hazza visited all the stands and took time to inspect many of the exhibits as well as spoke to the participants about the show and the vehicles on display.
Exhibitors were unanimous in their opinion that Sheikh Mohammed's and Sheikh Hazza's visit would result in bringing in more crowds and eventually more business and thereby provide a further boost to the show, which has attracted over 64 of the top manufacturers, designers, customisers and tuners worldwide, as well as an audience exceeding over 23,000 visitors on the first two days itself.
Sheikh Mohammed was happy at the large turnout of international exhibitors and encouraged the DWTC to sustain the momentum of growth and further improve and expand the show.
"The seventh edition of the Motorshow has already surpassed all previous records in terms of number of exhibitors, gross floor space sold, number of exhibits and we expect to attract an all-time high number of visitors to view the largest collection of cars ever put together under one roof," said Mr bin Fahad.
"The phenomenal growth of the show underlines the key position Dubai holds as the hub of the Middle East market, which is noted for its love affair with the automobiles and its high spending power, and we are delighted to be playing our role in HH Sheikh Mohammed's vision of further developing the emirate as the gateway for facilitating trade between the East and West," Mr. bin Fahad added.
The Motorshow this year has registered a 45 per cent increase in floor space and a 83 per cent rise in the number of exhibited cars. Also unique to the show this year is the European 4x4 Challenge circuit and the exhibition of Buggyra supertrucks.
This year's Motor Show features a host of manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, Chrysler, General Motors, Ford, Ferrari, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Maserati, Porsche, Pagani, Land Rover, Toyota, Volvo, Volkswagen, Audi, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Suzuki and Peugeot to name a few showcasing automobiles as well as displaying global motoring trends to this part of the world. Renowned automobile manufacturers at the show will also unveil futuristic concept cars and prototype vehicles.
The show also features the Motor Parts, Accessories & MotorPlus 2003 as a dedicated section for the automotive aftermarket sector.
