Based on Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and Microsoft's messaging and collaboration platform, easyXchange is powered by FSC's Intel-based PRIMERGY servers and best-in-class storage products to provide a total solution offering content storage and messaging, and automated backup information protection. FSC, which tried out easyXchange as part of a consolidation project to redevelop an internal exchange infrastructure, has estimated overall cost savings of about 40 percent. easyXchange will be available in the Middle East from late December 2003.

"Rising e-mail volumes and the tendency towards increasing Business Critical Computing content in the messaging store is a huge challenge for corporate IT departments. Overflowing mail servers can lead to performance shortfalls, downtime and rising costs. An interruption in e-mail service can directly interfere with business processes, causing a potentially negative impact on a company's performance," said Colin Britto, Sales Manager Large Enterprises, Gulf Region, Fujitsu Siemens Computers.

"An improved consolidation strategy for mail servers and storage can boost availability and enhance performance, while at the same time reducing costs and complexity. easyXchange, which reduces backup and recovery times from hours to minutes, is a cutting edge solution that enables users to vastly increase application and data availability," added Britto. "With the Middle East region adopting critical IT solutions in all areas of business operations, we advice companies to implement the easyXchange solution for improved management of their email systems."

FSC has recently completed the first phase of its own major Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 consolidation project to redevelop an internal Exchange infrastructure. With offices around the EMEA and over 7,000 employees, the company handles a substantial number of e-mails daily. The launch of Microsoft's new Exchange Server 2003 solution - which includes key functions for consolidation - led to FSC's decision to consolidate its mail infrastructure consisting of 60 Servers in about 40 locations on two core Exchange Server sites with less than 10 servers.
