ARABCOM shifts from Beirut to Doha

Under the auspices of his Royal Highness, Abdullah Ben Khalifa Al Thani, Qatari Prime Minister, the capital of Qatar hosts from April, 21-23 the 5th most important Arab & International Forum and Expo for the public & private sectors in the field of telecommunications & information technology. 'ARABCOM 2002' is organized by HITEK magazine & The Xperimental Group, with the support of the Gulf Cooperation Council, QTEL, Al-Jazeera TV as official TV, Orascom Telecom, Huwaei, Inmarsat, Al Mannai Group, Qatar National Bank, Qatar Airways, The Commercial Bank of Qatar and many other large organisations.

In the processes of the current preparations to organise the conference and the 5th ICT International Exhibition in Doha, Mrs 'Katia Tayyar' President of the ARABCOM group has confirmed that the expected success of 'ARABCOM 2002' arises from the numerous positive outcomes achieved by ARABCOM conference and exhibition since 1998, from which 'The Arab Organization for Information and Communication Technology' has emanated.

ARABCOM 2002 Conference and Exhibition in Doha coincides with the meeting of ARABSAT general assembly in the context of symbolizing Arab Solidarity spirit to fulfill the aspirations of the Arab nation to achieve cooperation in this field. The combination of the two events will contribute to the success of the conference. The participants include all Arab ministers of communication, the GCC general secretary, the Arab league, the IUT, the IBD, the IB, the EU and delegates from a number of regional unions and organizations, in the presence of operators, manufacturers, service and software providers, as well as owners of major international, regional and Arab telecommunication companies, diplomats, investors, businessmen and bankers. This annual meeting offers many opportunities to all those interested in business development and investment in the ICT sector.

One thousand Arab and foreign personalities are expected to take part in the activities of the conference which will be held at the Doha Ritz-Carlton from April 21 to 23, 2002. Throughout 13 sessions, 40 prominent lecturers will present papers on the latest ICT industry and modern technology compatible with the infrastructures in the various Arab countries, and could be applied at the available pace and cost of every individual country according to each country's legislation, readiness and aspirations.

ARABCOM 2002 is characterized by the release of more than 100 new products in the field of Information and Communication Technology, through exhibitions by more than 90 international, regional and local companies from 40 countries, of the latest products, services, innovations and solutions in the telecommunication sector, as well as in the fixed, mobile, ground or satellite information technology, and in the field of digital transmission, data communication systems, intelligent networks, mobile services, Internet, E-commerce, E-banking, modern postal services and other new technological digital revolution perspective.
