VERITAS launches Disaster Recovery Seminar Series

  • United Arab Emirates: Thursday, February 07 - 2002 at 08:52
  • PRESS RELEASE

Regional organisations are set to benefit from a pan-Middle East seminar series on disaster recovery, hosted by VERITAS Software, with the support of ADIC, MindWare and Sun Microsystems.

The free, half-day seminars have been designed to allow attendees to focus on the areas of most concern and interest to them. The morning session: Disaster Recovery for the Modern Data Centre is aimed at a business audience; and an afternoon session: Definitive Storage Solutions is directed at channel partners.

Mike Hynes, Regional Sales Manager, VERITAS Software Middle East says: 'Two out of every five organisations that experience a disaster go out of business within five years. Building an effective Disaster Recovery strategy is an absolute must for any business - the key challenge is to do it cost effectively.'

In today's economic climate, with shrinking or static IT budgets, it is more important than ever to have the flexibility to offer the right level of protection, on an application-by-application basis, across all operating systems and hardware platforms. VERITAS has partnered with ADIC, MindWare and Sun Microsystems to ensure that attendees have a full understanding of disaster recovery requirements, irrespective of their organisation's operating systems and hardware platforms.

The Disaster Recovery for the Modern Data Centre Seminar will demonstrate how to design the most cost effective disaster recovery plan, ensuring that potential disasters are avoided, and that data can be recovered fast and effectively if an outage takes place. The IT manager will learn how to build a solid strategy through a range of stimulating presentations including how to assess their organisation's disaster recovery requirements, minimise downtime, diminish risk of data loss and reduce the costs associated with downtime.

Hynes adds: 'With storage costs spiralling and IT budgets being frozen or cut, storage software is the only way for organisations to centrally manage more for less and to get the best return on investment from their existing infrastructure'.

Gartner Group estimates that the global storage management software market will be worth $16.7 billion by 2005. The Definitive Storage Solutions Seminar has been designed to show channel partners the importance of storage revenues in the face of an economic slowdown. However, the seminar also includes presentations for all levels of IT decision makers detailing how they can achieve increased productivity and profit through the effective use of information technology tools.'

The Seminar Series has been developed specifically for IT professionals, channel partners and business decision makers in the region, providing the information they need to avoid the negative impacts of any disaster, so that they are able to maintain business without interruption 24 x 7.
