- PRESS RELEASE
The Ministry of Finance and Industry (MoFI) organized a seminar today in Abu Dhabi for government officials to update them on the implementation status of Performance Based Budgeting (PBB) across all ministries and federal bodies and to announce the next steps for the coming year.
During the the seminar, participants were briefed on the implementation, thus far, of the medium-term (three-year) agreements that have been signed with 12 different ministries and federal bodies. They also discussed the structure of the program for those ministries that have already fully completed the PBB procedures. "Employees have already been mapped against the various programs and sub-programs within the ministries and federal authorities and an accounting guide for economic expenditure classification has been prepared in line with PBB standards," said Al Bustani.
Said Al Yateem, Manager of Budgets at MoFI noted that participants at the seminar also discussed the next stage of PBB implementation. "The Ministry will establish a financial analysis unit to provide the government full financial statistics related to budgeting and to recommend financial policies regarding the preparation and implementation of PBB." Al Yateem added that an information technology system will be installed to "control the total spending and to ensure the optimal use of resources and minimal expenditure."
MoFI is responsible for the overall supervision of the implementation and accounting procedures of PBB and for ensuring that the underlying principles of the project - the three 'E's: Economy, Efficiency and Effectiveness - are adhered to.
