Thus, U.S. Robotics' 802.11g Wireless Turbo networking products, the fastest existing offering, becomes the first wireless technology equipment to gain approval by Etisalat and to be available off the shelve, giving small to medium businesses and homes the opportunity to take full benefit of the latest wireless connectivity technologies.

Yusuf Syed, U.S.Robotics' Regional Sales Manager, said: 'The UAE market has a massive potential for wireless Internet, and the concept of high-speed mobile connectivity has become a huge focus for the entire region. With the growing demand for wireless access there is also a growth in the number of hotspots in the country. As Emirates Internet & Multimedia recently announced its plans to expand on this growth and meet this demand, U.S. Robotics aims to work with the service provider with a joint strategic objective to offer the fastest wireless access in the region.'

The USR 100Mbps Wireless Turbo, which was launched in the Middle East in July of this year, is powered by the innovative Xelerator Technology to ensure greater network capacity and the highest data throughput. The U.S. Robotics 802.11g Wireless Turbo portfolio includes a router, multi-function access point, PCI adapter and PC card. 'The versatility and ease of use of U.S. Robotics 802.11g Wireless Turbo products mean a wireless network can be easily set up in an existing wired network without expensive infrastructure costs', explains Syed. 'With a quick and easy three-step installation process, users can quickly become productive with their new wireless network. The unique, stackable case design of the router and multi-function access point require minimal space, so that both home network users and small-to-medium size business owners alike can grow their networks with an entire family of other U.S. Robotics networking and broadband devices.'

As the Internet becomes the backbone of all business and communications, wireless environments could be frustrating if they fail to deliver on users' expectations. Along with the freedom to move, fast and secure access to the Internet is key to complete the joy of mobility experiences among users. The newly approved 100 Mbps Wireless Turbo Portfolio delivers speeds nine times faster than existing wireless products available in the market.

Syed ends: 'We are working with our local distribution and reseller channel to ensure the availability of the 100Mbps Wireless Turbo products in the market. Our preceeding range of wireless products comprised 13% of our sales in the first half of 2003. We predict a surge in this figure over the first half of 2004, as the local and regional markets become more aware of and educated about the technology.'
