DTCM and Dubai Civil Defence discuss safety measures in tourism establishments

Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) and Dubai Civil Defence officials today held a high-level meeting to discuss the safety criteria in tourism establishments, including hotel establishments, desert camps and dhow cruises.
Mr. bin Sulayem said: "This meeting was to emphasise our cooperation with all the other government departments to give a fillip to tourism in Dubai. The importance of better coordination between the DTCM and Dubai Civil Defence is imperative to ensure better safety levels for the visitors to the emirate."
He added: "The safety criteria have been communicated to the DTCM by the Dubai Civil Defence. We are working towards informing these criteria to all the tourism establishments, including hotel establishments, dhow cruises, and desert safaris. The safety of tourists is of prime importance to us and Dubai has a good track record."
Both sides agreed on the importance of the law enforcement for ensuring high safety levels for the tourists and visitors.
They also discussed the establishment of direct fire alarm facility at hotel establishments and desert camps and the Dubai Civil Defence headquarters.
The need for an increase in the periodical visits by the Dubai Civil Defence officials to all tourism-related establishments was also discussed. They underscored the importance of exchanging expertise and information and better coordination.
Explaining the importance given to desert camps, Mr. bin Sulayem said: "This comes from the fact that the desert is one of the key attractions for tourists in the UAE in general and Dubai in particular."
Mr. bin Sulayem thanked the Dubai Civil Defence for their continuous and excellent cooperation with the DTCM and its support for the safety of tourists and visitors in addition to ensuring the safety of Dubai landmarks and other historical sites frequented by the tourists and residents alike.
