The landmark shopping and entertainment mall project at the entrance to Sharjah will unveil the 70,000 square foot premier indoor family entertainment centre, which will form the focal point of the country's family entertainment industry.

Adventureland will open with the rest of the mall on February 20 playing host to 15 attractions, including the UAE's first indoor rollercoaster, the first multi-level train and the first indoor water flume ride, making it a desirable stand-alone destination, as well as providing an added dimension to the mall.

Raymond Casey, Managing Director of Sahara Centre, said that the creation of Adventureland was key to the concept of the mall. He said: "We are aiming to provide the ultimate shopping and leisure destination in the UAE. Adventureland is a truly innovative entertainment centre and features many attractions that have never been seen in the region before.

"This adds to a top-class package that truly reflects the positioning of Sahara Centre. Adventureland will be a benefit to our tenants and visitors alike, rapidly becoming the family destination of choice in the country."

"With my partner Glenn Figueroa of Gleeco, we designed the concept of Adventureland specifically for this project and everyone involved was very clear as to the nature of the complex," said Shahram Foroughi, Managing Director of Elite Research Management Consultant who was previously involved in five attractions at EuroDisney, as well as Jumeirah International's Wild Wadi complex.

"First and foremost, this has to be a family entertainment centre, so the majority rides are open to every family member, but we have also added internet and sports cafes alongside a traditional carousel to cater for all tastes. Secondly, Adventureland had to fit in with the rest of Sahara Centre, and stand as a leader in the region."

The indoor rollercoaster, the first in the region, is 300 metres long and 12 metres high, while Log Jam, the indoor flume ride, winds its way through a mock mine before dropping from a height of 7m. The multi-level train winds its way through more than 200m of railway track.

Century Cinemas is another key entertainment anchor in the Dhs 400 million development. The retailers are predictably high-profile and include Debenhams, one of the UK's leading department stores, and THE One.
