Raya Intergration and Bank of Alexandria signs contract

In the context of its contribution to the technological development of the banking sector, Dr. Ahmed Nazif, Minister of Communications and Information Technology witnessed the signing of the contract between Raya Integration, a subsidiary of Raya Holding, and Bank of Alexandria following its bid on a communications infrastructure project.

According to this contract, which amounts to LE 5.5 million, Raya will design and deploy LAN and WAN networks based on the latest Cisco technology to enable the bank's complete automation, in addition to the establishment of a new system for enhancing customer service and enabling a set of value-added services to its wide customer base. According to the contract, Raya Telecom will provide a virtual private network interconnecting 50 branches through dedicated lines, in addition to linking153 branches through dial-up connectivity, through Raya Telecom's data network infrastructure which covers the whole nation and enables special advanced features.

According to Mahmoud Abd El Latif, chairman of Bank of Alexandria, the bank's development strategy is founded on several pillars, specifically the development of IT systems and IT training. He further added that the network interlinking the bank's branches and being currently deployed by Raya, is of major importance to the communication infrastructure which will enable the bank to enhance the efficiency of the service to the customer and modernize services and banking products. Also, this network will answer the Central Bank's need concerning the provision of necessary data when linking the headquarter of Bank of Alexandria to the Central Bank's network..

It is worth mentioning that Bank of Alexandria enjoys a heritage of 47 years serving the Egyptian Economy since its establishment in 1957 It also owns about 200 branches and units in Egypt. The new management under Mahmoud Abd El Latif has focused on establishing the communications infrastructure necessary for the deployment of the latest technology to increase its competitiveness in the banking sector through the modernization of its services.

Ibrahim Sarhan, managing director of Raya Integration commented that the act of deploying a multi-service communications infrastructure reflects the bank's vision for its customers and its innate understanding of how to keep them and increase interactivity with them, in addition to the enhancement of the bank's customer experience and increasing growth which reflects on its profitability.

Yasser El Kady, Cisco Systems Regional Manager North Africa and Levant area, added on his side that the network deployed for Bank of Alexandria is based on the most advanced network technology worldwide since the LAN infrastructure is set for current and future use to add more service without the need for further investments; in addition to a WAN infrastructure which enables the bank to be linked to its branches and the international networks through the Internet while enjoying security and protection against any network attacks.

Finally, Medhat Khalil, chairman and CEO of Raya Holding added that Raya Integration has become the largest Systems Integration company in Egypt, judging from its operations, due to its success in the past years in delivering a number of important complex projects in cooperation with the largest technology vendors, and gaining customers' trust year after year.
