The increasing popularity of projectors, as an integral part of the office and school room, combined with a growing trend for the "home-cinema" experience, has spurred the company on to introduce up to eight new models in 2004.

"Ever since BenQ launched its first projector into the Middle East back in 2001, we have witnessed strong demand. What we have learned from monitoring the market in 2003 is that we need to introduce even more innovative and strong-performing models in 2004 to meet the needs of this increasingly sophisticated market," said Robert Dung, managing director, BenQ Middle East

"Throughout 2003, BenQ Middle East has recorded an average of 20 percent quarter-on-quarter growth with its projectors. Based on the deals we have been making in the corporate sector and with government departments around the region, we expect growth to be double in 2003 what it was this year," said Zakaraya Ashek, account manager, BenQ Middle East.

As part of BenQ's strategy to meet the demands of the regional market, the company will boost the number of models in its projector range from 12 to 20 by the end of 2004. The decision comes just six months after BenQ increased its projector line in the Middle East by 100 percent.

Witnessing healthy demand on a first-hand basis, from both the consumer and corporate markets, for the entire range of BenQ projectors are the company's distributors across the region.

"Since BenQ introduced the PB 8120, PB8220, PB8230, PB7200, PB7220 and PB2220 projectors a few months ago, we have been fielding requests from conference organizers, hotels and schools," said Manoj Pillai , Business Development Manager - AUDIVIZ Technologies

Additionally, Mario M. Veljovic , Business Unit Manager - APTEC Gulf, said: "Sales for projectors have been consistently strong throughout the year but, because of the demand of the holiday season we have seen a significant jump in demand. Consumers have realized that projectors are a wonderful gift for people that want to have the "home cinema" experience."
