Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) upgrades its financial system
- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, February 09 - 2002 at 12:08
- PRESS RELEASE
In an effort to streamline its internal processes and provide enhanced services to its customers and suppliers, Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) has completed a major upgrade of its financial system.
Oracle Applications version 10.7, the legacy system at ADWEA, was spread across 11 companies as isolated processes. The upgrade involved integrating these disparate systems under one central Oracle Financials Solution version 11i, for the modules General Ledger, Accounts Payables, Cash Management and Fixed Assets. Due to the change from a decentralized to centralized solution, the project involved a fresh re-implementation of all modules and a conversion exercise from the existing 11 systems.
"Hyperlink is indeed delighted to have provided the upgrade for ADWEA. We believe in using technologically-proven methodologies and standards to ensure the quality and consistent delivery of products and services provided to our customers," according to an official spokesperson from Hyperlink. "ADWEA has always been a progressive organization in adapting cutting-edge technologies and robust IT solutions. We hope that this strategic partnership with a reputed institution like ADWEA is the beginning of a long and fruitful association."
The implementation by Hyperlink included the choice of SUN as the base platform to hold the full solution. In addition, the technical architecture consisted of two application servers linked to one database server as part of a cluster and a load balancing solution to manage the accessibility to the application servers. The technical components of the solution were vital to meeting the identified objectives and to the successful completion of the project.
The centralization of financial operations has allowed ADWEA to increase efficiency of its payables cycle and bank reconciliation transactions, in addition to establishing control over its fixed asset management and shortening of its financial reporting process while minimizing end user support response time. Following this implementation, ADWEA is in a better position to manage its technical maintenance activities.
Apart from the operational benefits, ADWEA is also able to reduce its total cost of ownership as it has consolidated its technical platform and end user support activities.
