Air Arabia takes off to Aleppo in Syria

Following the success of the first two months of operations, Air Arabia LLC, UAE's national airline and first low-cost airline of its kind in the Middle East & North Africa region, made its inaugural flight to Aleppo on Thursday - its second destination in Syria - with Air Arabia's officials and press accompanying the flight.

Air Arabia's inaugural flight to Aleppo flew an official delegation; led by Abdul Wahab Mohamad Al Roomi, Deputy Director Civil Aviation, Donald Hubbard, Air Arabia's Director of Finance and Ali Al-Hamdany, Air Arabia's Head of Information Technology to Aleppo's Airport, where they were met by dignitaries, press and officials. Following the flight, guests were greeted with a small reception in Aleppo Airport.

Speaking on the occasion, Donald Hubbard said: "We are pleased to start operations to Aleppo - our second flight in Syria, and we look forward to expanding our service offerings in the region". He added: "Air Arabia is committed to enabling customers who have not been able to afford air travel in the past to start travelling throughout the region and those who do travel to travel more frequently".

Flights from Sharjah to Aleppo will take off at 20:00 every Sunday and Thursday. A one way ticket from Sharjah to Aleppo will start at Dhs 370 - excluding government taxes, with similar fares available for the return trip.

"I would like to thank the Syrian government and aviation authorities for their role in facilitating our operations and all their cooperation in making this possible," said Abdul Wahab Mohamad Al Roomi.

Air Arabia is a Sharjah government-owned airline which is currently flying from Sharjah to Bahrain daily, Beirut four days a week, Damascus three days a week, Kuwait three days a week, and Muscat four days a week. Air Arabia will operate to eight new destinations in January, including: Alexandria and Assiut in Egypt; Isfahan, Shiraz, and Tehran in Iran; Doha in Qatar and Colombo in Sri Lanka.
