Sumaira Isaacs, Arabian Adventures' Manager M.I.C.E., has been appointed to the Board of the Society of Incentive & Travel Executives (SITE) , and will represent the region at the SITE Executive Summit 2004, co-sponsored by Arabian Adventures, hotel group Jumeirah International, Al Maha Desert Resort and Emirates airline.
SITE, a not-for-profit educational and professional society, provides a networking forum, offers education and training for incentive and travel executives, and sets standards for the M.I.C.E. industry, now tourism's fastest-growing sector.
Boosting Dubai's M.I.C.E. sector is a key part of the Dubai Government's campaign to attract 15 million visitors a year to the country by 2010.
Board Directors from the Society will arrive on Emirates for the summit at Dubai's Madinat Jumeirah Hotel, where the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing is sponsoring a M.I.C.E. workshop for delegates from hotels, tourism organisations and consultants, the first of its kind in the region.
Ms Isaacs said: 'This will help Dubai develop M.I.C.E. in North America, where the Society is thriving, and is well timed, as Emirates is starting services to New York this year and San Francisco in 2005. I'll also be helping SITE to provide high quality industry-related education in the region in a drive to raise industry standards, and will help set up the first SITE local chapter.'
Ms Isaacs has served on SITE since January 1996 and became one of only 17 directors worldwide when she took up her three-year appointment effective from 1st January. She graduated from the University of Karachi in her native Pakistan and has worked for Emirates since 1997.
Emirates executive named to represent region worldwide
An executive from Arabian Adventures, the Dubai-based Emirates Group Destination Management company, has been chosen as the sole Middle East and Africa representative on a key Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (M.I.C.E.) industry body.
