Emirates Post launches new India parcel service 'Bharat Parcel Guaranteed' with XPS Cargo Services

Emirates Post today announced 'Bharat Parcel Guaranteed', a value-added parcel service to India, offering to refund the parcel charges if the parcel is not delivered within two weeks.

The new service is being launched in collaboration with XPS Cargo Services, an Indian courier company.

The service, which starts from January 15, 2004, is being introduced with an attractive six-week promotion that will give away a total of 213 Nokia mobile phones in association with Val-U-Shop in weekly raffle draws. There will be 35 prizes each week in the promotion that will run from January 15 to February 25, 2004. In the final week, there will be three additional grand prizes: 2 N-Gage mobiles and 1 Nokia Communicator 9210i.

The "Bharat Parcel Guaranteed" service was announced at a press conference addressed by Mr. Abdulla Al Daboos, Director General of Emirates Post and Mr. D.P. Agarwal, Vice-Chairman & Managing Director, XPS Cargo Services, following the formal signing of an agreement between the two sides.

The press conference was also addressed by Mr. Arun Nagar, Managing Director of Cellucom, a leading distributor of mobile communication devices, which has recently opened Val-U-Shop retail outlets at Emirates Post's post-offices. Also present were XPS Cargo Services senior officials, Mr. Prabhakara Krishnamurthy, CEO and Mr. Umesh Kumar, General Manager.

Addressing the press conference, Mr. Al Daboos said: "With the launch of 'Bharat Parcel Guaranteed,' we are adding value to our parcel service to India, offering our valued customers an added incentive to send parcels to their near and dear ones in India. We are delighted to collaborate with XPS Cargo Services to ensure guaranteed delivery at the Indian end and are confident that its extensive network and delivery expertise will ensure high levels of service and customer satisfaction."

The new service offers a value-for-money deal for customers. There is a flat fee of Dhs. 48 per parcel, and a charge of Dhs. 6 per kg. The maximum weight allowed per parcel is 35 kg.

"We have collaborated with our Indian partner to work out an excellent deal for our customers, backed by guaranteed delivery within two weeks. This agreement will put an end to the problems that have sometimes affected our Indian parcel service in the past. Now, our customers can rest assured that their parcels will be in safe hands, without any worries concerning on-time delivery," Mr. Al Daboos added.

XPS Cargo Services is a division of Transport Corporation of India Ltd, incorporated under Company's Act of India and authorized to carry on the business of cargo.

To mark the start of the new service, Emirates Post has launched an attractive promotion. Customers who send parcels under the "Bharat Parcel Guaranteed" scheme between January 15 and February 25, 2004, will have a chance to win 213 mobile phones under a promotion sponsored by Val-U-Shop, the reseller network that is selling mobile phones at Emirates Post's main post-offices.

"Both, Bharat Parcel Guaranteed from Emirates Post and Val-U-Shop from Cellucom are perfect examples of customer oriented service and it gives us immense pleasure to be part of this offer," said Arun Nagar, , Managing Director of Cellucom.

Each week, there will be an electronic draw to give away 35 Nokia-2100 mobiles, with headset and U-Club prepaid card (which allows downloading of ring-tones, Java
games and animated screensavers). In the final week, beside the 35 mobile phones, there will be three grand prizes: two N-Gage mobile game-decks with Bluetooth, GPRS, digital music player, stereo FM, MMS, email and XHTML browser and one Nokia Communicator 9210i, the advanced phone with full-colour screen, fax, email, WAP, www and video streaming.
