A host of dignitaries including senior federal and state ministers and leading industry personalities accompanied them on a guided tour of the event.
The entourage were conducted on a detailed tour of the exhibition, which in its third edition is bigger and far more comprehensive than ever before, and were impressed by the scale and scope of the show. The ministers took time to inspect the exhibits in detail, spoke to the various exhibitors and visitors to the show which is jointly organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The delegation also inspected the state-of-the-art venue, which is a one-of-its-kind facility in the country.
'We are tremendously encouraged by the growth of GITEX Hyderabad,' said DWTC General Manager Exhibitions, Leasing and Operations, Mr Abdulla Qassem who accompanied the entourage. 'The show has registered a ten per cent growth over last year and continues the upward trend that it has maintained since its inception,' he added.
'The GITEX brand name is one of our signature exhibition brands and the Hyderabad event has progressed over the last couple of years to become an ideal business platform for companies to display latest technologies and launch new products and services,' Mr. Qassem explained.
Several leading IT majors are participating in the event including Microsoft, Reliance Infocomm, Satyam, Hindustan Lever Ltd., Vanenberg Asia, HSBC, ADP Wilco, Iomega, STPI, HYSEA, L&T Infocity, BSNL, ELCOT, Tamil Nadu, Dubai Internet City, SAIF Zone, Sharjah, IT&C Department, Andhra Pradesh and DIT Karnataka among others.
Another unique feature about the show this year is the staging of the Second Asia IT Ministers Summit Meet and IT Industry Forum concurrently. This has also attracted keen interest with IT Ministers and government and business delegations from over 24 countries attending.
GITEX Hyderabad 2004 features an entire range of IT related products and services. While the main exhibition focusses on trade professionals, consumers looking to purchase computer equipment and electronic gadgetry can do so at the GITEX Computer Shopper that has been added as a new component to the event this year to target those seeking to purchase equipment for their personal use.

Dr. Arun Shourie, Honorable Minister of Communications & Information Technology and Disinvestment along with Honorable Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, M. N. Chandra Babu Naidu inaugurated a bigger and brighter GITEX Hyderabad 2004 today at the HITEX International Exhibition Centre in the capital of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
