Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone Authority are coordinating the Carpet Oasis 2004, one of the most eagerly awaited events of Dubai Shopping Festival 2004.
Work is being carried out on a 24-hour basis for the event and the countdown for the opening has begun. With 85 Carpet pavilions and 28 antiques and souvenir stores, this is the largest Carpet Oasis that has been seen in Dubai till date. There will be live workshops conducted at the venue to show visitors the skill and intricacy involved in the making of these carpets, to increase the awareness of people about this unique industry.
Abdulla Khamis Bin Hareb, Director, Public Relations, Promotions and Exhibitions Department, Ports, Customs and Free Zone Authority, and Head of the Carpet Oasis Committee, said, "95% of the preparations have been completed at the Carpet Oasis venue. It is only the finishing touches that are going on now, and we are well on schedule to open by the weekend. There are some notable differences, especially in the facilities and services. Some of the exhibitors have also designed and built their pavilions with special looks, adding a touch of creativity to the look of the zone itself."
"During the final meeting of the Carpet Oasis organizing committee, organizational and administrative matters were discussed and we finalized the processes that will be in place at the Oasis. The committee will communicate effectively with exhibitors and participants by being right at the venue during the duration of DSF 2004", he said.
"The Carpet Oasis will be ready to receive visitors right on schedule, bringing the wonders of handmade carpets and antiques to the residents and visitors of Dubai again", he added.
