- PRESS RELEASE
An international conference on laboratory technologies will be held on February 9, 10 and 11 in conjunction with the Arab Lab and Instrumentation Show, to be held at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre from February 9 to 12, 2004.
"As the only regional forum for laboratory technologies, it is important that the Arab Lab Show creates channels of discussion for an in depth study of the requirements of the medical sector, as well as open the door to the inflow of technologies and ideas," said Anselm Godinho, Managing Director, International Conferences and Exhibitions (IC&E), the organisers of the Arab Lab and Instrumentation show. "The Arab Lab Conference is the result of a well thought out strategy to develop the profile of the Arab Lab Show, and turn it into the hub of research and development dialogue for the Middle East."
In keeping with the tradition of past shows, we already have in place a detailed programme of in show seminars. However, with the addition of a conference dedicated to the advances made in clinical research and development, the show will now feature not only cutting-edge technologies available in leading medical centres across the globe, but also introduce to the region latest technology that is in various stages of experimental implementation and can thus benefit from a dialogue with the medical sector in the region," added Godinho.
The conference is organised by INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions Organisation Est. (INDEX) in association with IC&E. The content and programme for the conference have been developed by a scientific committee that is chaired by Dr. Mahmoud Taleb Al-Ali of the Al Wasl Hospital. Dr. Mouza Abdulla Al Sharhan, Head of Histopathology Department, Dubai Hospital is the vice-chairman of the committee that has amongst its members department heads from the Dubai Hospital, Rashid Hospital, and the Al Wasl Hospital in Dubai, UAE University and Tawam Hospital in Al Ain, Al Mafraq Hospital and the Ministry of Health in Abu Dhabi.
"In view of the rapid development of the medical facilities in the UAE and the rest of the Middle East, access to the research and development channels in the medical centres worldwide is of crucial importance," said Mr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Managing Director, INDEX. "In keeping with our mission of promoting excellence and continuous development in every sector of regional economies, we endeavoured to put together a conference that will encourage the evolution of medical knowledge and education in the Middle East."
"In the selection of the content, the scientific committee has tried to ensure that the papers presented at the conference will be distinguished by the originality of their content and the quality of the research," added Al Madani. "I am confident that this conference is set to develop as a leading regional forum for dialogue on the advancement of medical sciences."
The conference will be open to doctors, medical students, nurses and laboratory technicians upon prior registration.
