Microsoft to feature latest platform technologies at Cairo's MDC 2004

Microsoft Middle East and Africa today said that more than 2,000 software developers are expected to attend its annual software developers' conference scheduled to take place in Cairo in January 25-27.

The event, Microsoft Middle East Developers Conference 2004 (MDC 2004), is an annual, regional conference that Microsoft organizes in the Middle East, with the objective of introducing the latest technologies to the region's developer community. Bill Gates, Microsoft Corporation Chairman and Chief Software Architect is expected to deliver the keynote speech at the conference.

Ali Faramawy, Regional Director for Microsoft Middle East and Africa said: "Developers and the developer community are Microsoft's number one asset. Bill's visit to Cairo and his keynote speech this year conveys a strong belief in the potential of the Middle East to play a key role in the global software marketplace." He continued:" MDC 2004 is designed to attract cutting edge developers, designers and software architects that plan to lead the software development sector in this region."

At the MDC 2004, Microsoft, along with a large pool of international technology experts and executives will deliver in-depth technical sessions and demonstrations on the full range of Microsoft technologies and tools. Attendees will also have the opportunity to have an inside view of Microsoft's Windows next release code-named 'Longhorn', the next release of Microsoft SQL Server code-named 'Yukon' as well as the upcoming version of Microsoft Visual Studio.NET development suite, code-named 'Whidbey'.
Faramawy concluded: "These are the next generation technologies that the software development industry in the Middle East will use to build robust, secure, scalable and reliable solutions for their customers. The ease-of-use, cost effectiveness and flexibility embedded in these technologies and the rich and rapid development capabilities based on the Microsoft platform will underpin the innovation and commercial success of the leading software houses in the region."
