The agreement was signed by Brigadier Hadher Khalaf AlMehari, General Manager of the Directorate General for Naturalization and Residence; and Essa M. Al Daboos, General Manager of Empost,. The signing ceremony took place at the Abu Dhabi Naturalization and Residency Department headquarters in the presence of senior officials from both sides.

"The Jawaz Service by Empost will be of great benefit to residents of our emirate. They now do not have to travel to and spend time at the Abu Dhabi Naturalization and Residency Department to collect their passports. Empost will do that for them at a nominal charge and hand them over to the applicants," said Lieutenant Colonel
Saeed Hamad Al Siwaidi, Abu Dhabi Naturalization and Residency Department.

"We welcome the cooperation with Empost. Together, we shall both serve our community and take our service to the doorstep of our people," added Al Siwaidi. "Empost is the UAE's own courier company. As a national company, it has been our driving focus to develop products and services for the benefit of our customers and the country," said Empost General Manager Essa Al Daboos.

Adding Value
"At Empost, we share a common objective with Abu Dhabi Naturalization and Residency Department. It is a perfect matching of both our desires to add more value to the service we provide to our clients, so that it can save time and effort for our users," Al Daboos added.

He said the new service will be launched on an experimental basis during the second week of January 2004.

All-UAE Delivery
When the documents are ready, Empost will deliver them to anywhere in Abu Dhabi or throughout the UAE. "Empost employees will sort out the transactions on a daily basis and deliver them to the individuals or companies mentioned on the sticker. The new service will cover the entire country, including remote and border areas," Al Daboos stressed.

The new Jawaz stickers will available at all Empost offices and stores, typing centres, petrol stations, apart from other venues. The sticker consists of two parts: the first, to be stuck on the passport, will contain full details about the applicant such as his/her residential address and telephone numbers. The other part, to be retained by the applicant, has to be shown to Empost staff on delivery to claim the passport and any other documents.
