First time for complementary medicine at Arab Health 2004

  • United Arab Emirates: Saturday, January 17 - 2004 at 09:18
  • PRESS RELEASE

The Dubai Herbal and Treatment Centre (DHTC) will be exhibiting at Arab Health, the premier health expo in the Middle East. This is the first time a complementary therapy centre has taken part at Arab Health.

Established in early 2003 under the patronage of HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Crown Prince of Dubai and U.A.E Minister of Defense, DH&TC specialises in integrated medicine, combining conventional therapies with complementary and traditional medicines.

"Arab Health will offer DH&TC an opportunity to liaise with health practitioners from around the UAE and the Gulf region, to explain the mission and objectives of the Centre as well as talk about some of our treatments and therapies we offer," explained Mr. Mohammed Al Marashi, Administrative Director, DH&TC. "DH&TC offers clients a combination of complementary and orthodox treatments e.g. Traditional Chinese Medicine, Traditional Indian Medicine, dermatology, manual lymphatic drainage and complex decongestive therapy and reflexology, among others. Exhibiting at Arab Health is an opportunity for us to explain the benefits of complementary therapies for the treatment and management of chronic diseases."

DH&TC will also be sponsoring two seminars at Arab Health: The first will be presented by Dr Peter Chung, visiting professor from Hong Kong, on the use of Ganoderma Lucidium spore in the treatment of Parkinson's Disease. This seminar is scheduled for January 18 at 11am.

Ms Teresa Hale Managing Director of the Hale Clinic London has been especially invited by the DH&TC to present the second seminar, which is scheduled for 21 January at 2:20pm. Ms Hale, a 20-year veteran in complementary therapies, is regarded as one of the world's "leading visionaries".

Ms Hale's seminar will focus on Holistic Medicine and Integrated Medicine - the New Global Medicine. "Over the past few years, there have been movements in the health industry to combine the use of Eastern traditional medicines with western orthodox medicine. This has resulted in the idea of Integrated Medicine - the idea that no one system of medicine had the answer to every illness and disease. Cooperating together could greatly benefit the patient", explained Ms Hale.

Integrated Medicine has been interpreted in many different ways across the world, and Ms Hale will be giving examples during the seminars.
Arab Health is scheduled to run in Dubai from 18-21 January 2004.
