The hospital, which provides primary, secondary and tertiary health care for entitled patients in peace time and operates as the main military hospital in times of conflict is now using Oracle Collaboration Suite as a key tool for communication and knowledge-sharing.

The decision to install Oracle Collaboration Suite was made following a full review of the hospital's current technology. Realizing the benefits that a fully-integrated, consolidated communications platform could bring to their organization, executives at the BDF hospital decided to migrate from Microsoft Exchange to Oracle technology. One of the key incentives behind the project was the capability of the Oracle Collaboration Suite to consolidate BDF's system around a single server, thereby reducing costs and lessening the impact on network bandwidth.

"By having implemented Oracle Collaboration Suite we are able to achieve BDF's objective of realizing cost benefits and efficiencies from an integrated IT infrastructure platform," said Dr. Mukhtar S.A. Al-Hashimi, head of BDF hospital's computer department. "Security was the paramount consideration and as a military institution, we have to be able to trust the integrity of BDF hospital's infrastructure, and we felt that Oracle would be more than capable of delivering that peace-of-mind."

"Oracle understands that one of the key challenges for organizations is providing the information that professionals need in the time they need it," said Husam Dajani, Vice President for Oracle Middle East. "Oracle Collaboration Suite provides BDF hospital with the right infrastructure to achieve this, while reducing the number of mail and file servers that the hospital needs to operate. It's a solution that provides both cost efficiencies and enhanced productivity."

Oracle Collaboration Suite is designed to manage all of a company's messaging and collaboration needs, delivering voice, wireless, Web and desktop access to all communications including email, voicemail, fax, files and calendar on an enterprise-class, scalable, reliable, available and secure infrastructure.
