Arabian Home Healthcare to emphasise foot care for UAE residents at Arab Health 2004
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, January 18 - 2004 at 11:38
- PRESS RELEASE
Arabian Home Healthcare (AHH), the region's only home healthcare retailer, has announced that its presence at Arab Health 2004 will be propelled by a drive to increase awareness of proper foot care for UAE residents.
Announcing the forthcoming seminar and workshops, Dr. Hassan Imam, Sales and Marketing Manager, Arabian Home Healthcare stated: "While we have the largest presence at the exhibition, and the confirmed participation of several of our partners and principals, it is foot care that will be the focus of our activities at Arab Health 2004.
"We have witnessed a growing need for education and proper information on foot care, for both residents and healthcare professionals residing in the UAE, a fact that is evident by the sales patterns at our retail showrooms. Foot care products and accessories rank among the highest in sales, from a list of 13,000 products available at our showrooms," he explained. "It is often very late when a patient is referred to us or approaches us directly, and our aim is to educate them about the growing importance of preventive or early treatment of disorders," he stated.
Dr. Imam also announced the visit of Richard Schnaittacher, a certified visiting pedorthist from the US, who will conduct a seminar for healthcare professionals, as well as foot evaluation demonstrations for consumers, at Arab Health 2004, and at the AHH showrooms in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
"Mr. Schnaittacher is an international expert who lectures on a range of specialised subjects including diabetic foot care, common forefoot problems, patient evaluation methods, shoe modifications and raw materials used to fabricate custom orthotics. He has conducted similar forums on foot care in the US, China,
Korea, Japan, Europe and the Middle East, and we are delighted to host him here during the Arab Health forum," he said.
Speaking on the eve of his scheduled seminars, Schnaittacher elaborated that the main focus of his seminar and demonstrations would be to inform and educate various audiences on the causes and care of foot-related disorders. "There is an unprecedented increase around the world in the percentage of people affected by foot ailments. In the US alone, for instance, one out of every four people suffers from foot ailments," he points out. "And this is particularly significant for the Middle East region where the prevalence of diabetes is very high, resulting in foot-related problems such as poor circulation, neuropathy, deformities and sometimes, amputations.
AHH's seminar for specialised healthcare consultants - pharmacists, chiropodists, chiropractors, orthodontists, orthopaedic consultants, diabetes consultants and physiotherapists - will be held at the AHH stand at Arab Health 2004 on January 20, preceded and followed by demonstrations and evaluations for consumers at the AHH showrooms in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
