The Minister is part of Egypt's official delegation to the Forum.
Minister Nazif will be participating in sessions entitled Setting the 2004 Agenda: Technology and How Business Boosts Development. Concurrent to the Forum, the Minister will witness the signing of an MOU between the UNDP and Microsoft, due to be signed by Mr. Mark Malloch Brown and Mr. Bill Gates.
Drawing upon the theme of this year's Annual Meeting, paticipants will debate seven main schemes/issues: Ensuring Global Security, Promoting Global Growth, Managing New Risks, Building Corporate Resilience, Spurring Innovation, Harnessing the Diversity of Values, and Reducing Inequity.

Joining world leaders in Davos for the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting on 'Partnering for Security and Prosperity', Dr. Ahmed Nazif, Minister of Communications and Information Technology will participate in several interactive sessions, sharing Egypt's experience in creating active partnerships to ensure a better future.

More on the World Economic Forum Meeting 2004:Over the course of the five-day Meeting, over 2,280 participants from 94 countries will gather in more than 250 interactive sessions; five hundred and thirty four come from developing countries. With more than 800 chairmen and CEOs from the world's leading companies participating this year, the Annual Meeting shows a strong business component.
Previously, the Forum launched issue-specific Task Forces and Initiatives devoted to developing new solutions, expanding common ground among different stakeholders, and mobilizing additional effort on important problems. Developments on the following Initiatives will be announced at this Annual Meeting:
- The Global Greenhouse Gas Register which will go 'online' at the Annual Meeting 2004,
- The Pension System Readiness Initiative works in partnership with Watson Wyatt Worldwide to assess the readiness of retirement systems in a wide range of countries.
- The World Economic Forum is organizing the Council of 100 Leaders, which aims to become a foremost multi-stakeholder community of senior political, religious, business, media and opinion leaders to promote understanding and cooperation between the Western and Muslim worlds.
- The Disaster Resource Network (DRN) harnesses resources donated by business to mitigate human suffering associated with disasters.
