More on the World Economic Forum Meeting 2004:
Over the course of the five-day Meeting, over 2,280 participants from 94 countries will gather in more than 250 interactive sessions; five hundred and thirty four come from developing countries. With more than 800 chairmen and CEOs from the world's leading companies participating this year, the Annual Meeting shows a strong business component.

Previously, the Forum launched issue-specific Task Forces and Initiatives devoted to developing new solutions, expanding common ground among different stakeholders, and mobilizing additional effort on important problems. Developments on the following Initiatives will be announced at this Annual Meeting:

- The Global Greenhouse Gas Register which will go 'online' at the Annual Meeting 2004,

- The Pension System Readiness Initiative works in partnership with Watson Wyatt Worldwide to assess the readiness of retirement systems in a wide range of countries.

- The World Economic Forum is organizing the Council of 100 Leaders, which aims to become a foremost multi-stakeholder community of senior political, religious, business, media and opinion leaders to promote understanding and cooperation between the Western and Muslim worlds.

- The Disaster Resource Network (DRN) harnesses resources donated by business to mitigate human suffering associated with disasters.
