One of those issues was the amount of feed back the group has received from parties concerned in several questionnaires they had published. "The main purposes of these questionnaires are to get a clearer picture of the market, and enable us to hear directly from those concerned if they are facing any problems, or if there are any pending issues that need to be resolved" said Mr. Ahmad Bin Hassan Al Shaikh, the Chairman of the Group. He added that the feed back they have received so far has been much less than they had hoped for, and called onto those concerned in the Food & Beverage Sector to play a more active role by responding to the regular questionnaires released by the group.

Mr. Bin Al Shaikh discussed several objectives the group has, some of those included creating good will and trust among the members, looking after the general interest of the industry, overcoming persisting problems such as visa restrictions, as well as establishing a database with contact details of suppliers, price updates and stocks information.

The group was set up by DCCI in November 2002 and constitutes 12 members. It has been very active since its establishment, holding monthly meetings with their members. The General Body meeting was attended by 70 businessmen from the food & beverage sector, including the Emirates Flights catering company, Federal Foods, Gulf Import & Export, Masafi and Al Shirawi Group.

The speakers were Ahmad Bin Hassan Al Shaikh, the Chairman of the group, Khalid Al Sherif, Head of Food Control Section at Dubai Municipality, Essa Al Ghurair, Chairman of Al Ghurair Foods, and Roland Klien, a member of the group.
