The Civil Defence has launched the service of a special card that parents can pin on their child's clothes. The card contains information like the child's name, parent's name and parent's mobile phone number. This is of great help for families to be immediately reunited with their children.
Most children get separated from their families at the Fun Fair, especially because of the attractive lights and colours there. The Civil Defence has been issuing thousands of these cards in association with other participants in the festival, especially at the gates of the major attractions.
Amal Bashir, Supervisor of the Card Issuing Division, Dubai Civil Defence, said, 'All those participating in the festival have been working hard to ensure the best facilities to visitors. Families that have children are of special concern, and we have had great success in monitoring crowded places with the help of all-women teams from the Civil Defence. These team members are volunteers from the Technical College and they are especially on duty on special days like Women's day at the Global Village. We encourage parents to also take very proactive steps to take care of their children, and to make use of the facilities being prepared by the Civil Defence department.'
Global Village and other DSF locations see thousands of families
Due to large crowds at DSF 2004 attractions, there are instances of children getting separated from their families.
