The seminars, to be chaired by Dr. Peter Gohl of the Germany based Bioscientia International Reference Laboratory, will highlight new diagnostic strategies and discuss their merits based on performance and limitation factors in direct relation to clinical stages and progression of the diseases.

'Over recent years, the rapid growth of medical facilities has initiated the development of advanced diagnostic centres in the UAE. Today, it is no longer necessary to send a test sample out of the country for detection of any disease, whether it is influenza or a more dangerous, difficult to detect disease,' said Anselm Godinho, Managing Director, International Conferences and Exhibitions, the organisers of the Arab Lab and Instrumentation show. 'What is even more encouraging is the high degree of awareness of the technological issues involved in diagnosing persistent and highly mutable strains of certain diseases. It is important, therefore, to keep a dialogue going between the researchers and the professionals implementing diagnostic techniques in the field.'

'At the Arab Lab and Instrumentation show, we intend to provide a forum for discussing new diagnostic strategies, as well as a platform for examining new diagnostic equipment,' added Godinho. 'Whether it is the in-show seminars, or the Arab Lab Conference, the consistent effort will be to facilitate the acquisition of know-how about advanced diagnostic strategies for the region.'

Arab Lab and Instrumentation Show will be held at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre from February 9 to 12, 2004. Besides the Arab Lab Conference held alongside the show, there will also be a series of in-show seminars to be held on February 9, 10, 11 and 12. The seminars will be open to exhibitors, trade visitors and healthcare professionals subject to prior registration. The seminars on diagnostic strategies for HIV and Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C will be held on February 10, 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM and February 11, 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM.
