  • PRESS RELEASE

BenQ (pronounced BEN-CUE), the region's leader in digital lifestyle products, announced today that during 2004 it will introduce a range of large-screen LCD TVs to meet the needs of the Middle East's growing home-entertainment market.

Throughout 2003, BenQ Middle East has recorded strong sales for both of the models of LCD TVs it has been selling, the Q150 and H200. According to the company's research, the positive results have been spurred on by the growing trend in the region for people to have the "home cinema" experience.

In line with BenQ's strategy to provide the market with products for the digital home, the company's LCD TVs are multifunctional and mobile. The BenQ Q150 LCD TV has proved popular with style-conscious consumers in the region, because it can be used as a computer monitor and with a DVD player. With its built-in TV tuner and optional wireless kit, the 15" screen LCD TV can be easily moved from room-to-room.

Strong sales results have also been recorded for the BenQ H200 LCD TV, which has a 20" screen. "Since launching the Q150 and H200 in the region, we have enjoyed strong demand from consumers wanting to equip their homes with the most up-to-date and innovative technology," said Robert Dung, managing director, BenQ Middle East.

"Looking to the future, we have recognized an emerging trend for even bigger screen LCD TVs. Because we aim to continue growing our business at a rapid rate, we will be fulfilling the market's needs by introducing a new line of larger-than-ever-before LCD TVs."

Preparing for a bigger future
In addition to BenQ's well-received 15" and 20" LCD TVs, the company recently unveiled in Taiwan three, new high-resolution models. The new models - 26", 30" and 46" - are expected to be popular with consumers during 2004.

"BenQ entered the LCD TV market in January 2003, and since then we have made an impressive impact. BenQ has captured market share based on our innovative designs and looking towards 2004, we will do the same," said Dung.

"By the end of 2004, we expect that large screen LCD TVs will have reached mainstream consumers. To prepare for this demand, we are readying ourselves to introduce these new large-screen models to the Middle East," concluded Dung.
