The series will be titled "Global Challenges and Opportunities" and will dwell upon emerging challenges and opportunities in various business sectors. The emphasis and objective of this lecture series is to update HCT students, staff and the local community partners of HCT with emerging major issues that affect different industry sectors globally. The speakers will comprise eminent business and industry leaders from various sectors. First in the series would be Mr.Azim Premji, Chairman, Wipro Limited.
Mr.Premji will speak on "The role of leadership in meeting challenges and creating opportunities." The audience would comprise students, faculty and distinguished industry and community partners of HCT. This inaugural lecture would be held on 7th February from 2.30 pm to 3.30 pm at the ADMC auditorium.
Fortune magazine has recently featured Mr.Premji among the 25 most powerful people in business outside the United States. His company WIPRO is a leading international IT services provider, with over 29,000 employees of 18 nationalities and has over 20 years of IT Consulting, Software Services, Systems Integration and Engineering Services experience.
Dr Tayeb Kamali, ADMC Director said, "This Global Challenges lecture series is one of many avenues made available to ADMC students to be conversant with global issues and opportunities in their future careers. As they gain academic knowledge and career specific vocational skills at the college, we also encourage them to integrate these skills in their professional work environment both within the UAE and globally. One of the seven key graduate outcomes of HCT is Global Awareness.
Dr Kamali added that international and UAE leaders and policy makers of different industries are being invited to talk on global challenges, emerging opportunities and future trends in their respective fields. Other topics that are planned to be covered in this series in the next few months include "Oil Contracts", and "Growth of Aviation sector in the UAE: Challenges and opportunities."
Mr.Premji, Chairman, Wipro said: "I am delighted to interact with the student community. I believe that young talent hold great potential to contribute to industry and thereby to society."
