  • PRESS RELEASE

The Fire and Rescue Marine team, put together by the Civil Defence department has boosted the image of Dubai as a city that goes to great extents to ensure safety of life and property.

The Fire and Rescue team works in protecting the events and activities within the festival as well as the conferences and any water based events that take place.

The Fire and Rescue Marine team goes through extensive training throughout the year in order to reach the level of professionalism and strength required for DSF. Some of the training the team goes through includes marine races and competition on land and in sea, which include developing and improving their breathing, diving, swimming and other required skills.

Along with Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone Authority, the Fire and Rescue Marine team plays an integral role in protecting the play areas that are close to the water, to ensure the safety of the visitors and residents. They cover an area of fifty meters from the shore into the sea staying alert for any situation. They even serve to protect the creek areas where many of the fireworks take place, ensuring the safety of life and property.

Major Abdul Rahim Khalifa Al Marri, Officer in charge of the Fire and Rescue Marine team, Dubai Civil Defence, said, "The teams are equipped with special devices that complement the skill of the team members. This combination enables the team to be prepared for any situation and to execute their tasks efficiently. Daily training sessions and drills are carried out to ensure that the team is on their toes, as well as for refreshing their skills."

Dubai is considered a marine city and the marine team has taken this into consideration as a huge number of events held during the year including the festival involve water. Dubai is one of the fast paced cities in the world and is well known for the huge number of visitors it receives yearly who come for the amazing shopping, tours and entertainment and this is a major reason why extra steps have been taken to increase the number of boats on patrol around Dubai's coastline.
