Sharjah's new airline Al Arabia too has all GCC routes fully booked, as GCC families opt for the safe, family oriented environment that Sharjah offers, in line with Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi's vision for the emirate. Three new 5star hotels are to be built in the near future, to cater to the growing demand.

His Excellency Sheikh Tariq Bin Faisal Al-Qassimi, Chairman of Sharjah Economic Development, says, "Sharjah has now taken its rightful place among other popular regional vacation destinations, as people are becoming more aware of all that the Emirate has to offer".

Sheikh Tariq adds, "This acceleration in the performance of the tourism sector is the result of a carefully planned and well-executed plan to promote Sharjah as a tourist destination. The emirate offers Arab families an atmosphere that is conducive to their traditions and religious beliefs".

The successful Spring Promotion which included the participation of many of the large shopping malls such as Mega Mall, Sahara Centre and Tawuun Mall, generated a significant increase in sales, making the promotion a vital part of the emirate's economy.
