- Saudi Arabia: Monday, February 09 - 2004 at 15:09
- PRESS RELEASE
Saudi Hollandi Bank announced yesterday that it will be sponsoring exhibitions by Saudi artists in Dammam and Jeddah, as part of an initiative designed to highlight Saudi creativity and promote Saudi art.
"The Sky Bridge exhibition was very warmly received," said Hamad Al-Huthaili, general manager for SHB's Business Development Group. "Visitors greatly admired the beautiful paintings which pictured different areas of Saudi culture and reflected Saudi genius."
Huthaili thanked the Saudi Culture and Art Association (SCAA), the Kingdom Tower's staff and all the artists whose contributions made the exhibition a success. "This exhibition is the first step in a series of initiatives that SHB plans to undertake in support of Saudi artists," he said.
Huthaili explained that SHB is keen to support cultural and artistic talent in the Kingdom. "We will be sponsoring a series of exhibitions to help Saudi talent reach international standards," he said. "The details regarding further events will be announced in due course, but planning is already underway."
Saudi artist and SCAA coordinator Nasser AlMusa, who assisted SHB in organizing the Riyadh exhibition, said he is delighted at the prospect of further events. "This exhibition underlines the private sector's determination to support social and cultural activities in the Kingdom and reflects an increased sense of social responsibility among privately owned institutions," he said. "This will be of great service to the Kingdom and its citizens."
"This support will provide an important platform for both new and famous artists to show their work to the public," AlMusa added. "I would like to thank all the artists who worked so hard to contribute to the Sky Bridge exhibition as well as Saudi Hollandi Bank for their continued commitment and support."
The works on display in the Sky Bridge exhibition covered a number of different themes and styles by Fahad Alrobaiq, Huda Alomar, Asmaa Aldakhel, Sara Kalaketawe, Muhamad Alomair, Faisal Almeshare, Fahad Alhejelan, Hashem Sultan, Abdulrahman Alhawas, Abdulmehsen Aba Hussain and Nasser Almusa.
