  • United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, February 10 - 2004 at 12:54
  • PRESS RELEASE

Danube Building Materials FZCO, one of the biggest building materials company in Jebel Ali, has opened an office in Guangzhou, People's Republic of China to tap into high quality building materials available at competitive prices for the local market.

Mr Rizwan Sajan, Danube's Chairman, said the Guangzhou office would look after the procurement of building materials supply from China to Dubai. A team comprising a resident manager and assistants will staff the new office.

"By having our people in the ground in China we would be able to have access to the vast range of materials available at very competitive prices. More over it is would be easy for us to find any product required and meet quality constraints set by our customers," said Mr Sajan.

Mr Sajan said currently, five per cent of stocks in their Jebel Ali warehouse come from China. "With the opening of Danube, Guangzhou, I expect this to increase to 20 per cent."

He added that the tremendous economic development China is undergoing now would make this economic power a force to reckon with in the future. "I feel China is going to dominate in every field in the days to come and it is very important for us to establish trade links quickly to take care of our clients' present and future requirements."

The newly opened Guangzhou office is Danube's fourth representative office outside the UAE. Other offices are located in Kuwait, Bahrain and in Muscat. Danube, leading supplier of timber and sanitary fittings in the UAE and the Gulf has in its stock in Jebel Ali more than 10,000 products from Europe and the Far East.

Another important factor in the decision to open an office in Guangzhou is the availability of a vast range of products in sanitary fittings and hardware. "Chinese sanitary fittings and hardware compete with the best in Europe and other Western countries at very attractive prices, thus allowing us to give our customers an added value," said Mr Sajan.

With the establishment of its China office, Danube looks more positive to provide the best of the products at reasonable prices.

Guangzhou is the capital of Guangdong Province in China. It was the birthplace of Sun Yatsen, known as the first president of the Republic of China, who was born south-west of the city in Cuiheng. Sun headed the Nationalist Party in Guangzhou and it was here that the fledgling Communist Party began to take shape.

Guangzhou is on the coast of the South China Sea and 182 kilometers away from Hong Kong, it is China's largest and most prosperous city in the south, an important seaport for foreign trade and a famous historical and cultural city over 2,000 years old. It hosts annual spring and autumn exports trade fairs. It has convenient land, water and air transport.
