- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, February 10 - 2004 at 14:02
- PRESS RELEASE
Mr. Abdul Rahman Ghanim Al Mutaiwee, the Director General of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry welcomed a delegation of organizers of the Prestige Trade Fair which was inaugurated by him.
This Trade Fair being held in the Dubai World Trade Centre in an area covering 800 sq meters is the first edition of PRESTIGE. Among the brands exhibited are Versace Sport, Calvin Klein, Givency, Emilio Pucci, Louis Feraud, Loewe, Lecroix, Porsche Design, Claude Montana and Montana Blu.
The delegation comprised Giuseppe Camerlengo, President of C.R.M, Ingo Klover, Managing Director of Planet Fair, Reinhard E. Dopfer, Managing Director and Member of Board of the European Fashion and Textile Export Council, Brussels, Michael Johannes, Managing Director of Inter Expo Consult GMBH, D.ssa Brigitta Bancher, Official responsible of Marketing & Promotion, and Eduardo Viladomiu Egozcue, Export Promotion Apparel Sector.
In this meeting, Mr. Al Mutaiwee praised the efforts of the organizers commenting on the importance of this fair for Dubai's market, as the upper to high level brands showcased in this trade fair are very suitable for the needs and requirements of the local market. Mr. Al Mutaiwee thanked his guests for choosing Dubai as the venue for their first Prestige Trade Fair, and added "choosing Dubai as your first market will provide you access to the whole region, as Dubai has proven to be the commercial hub of the regional market. And we at the Chamber are ready to provide you with the necessary support to enable you to penetrate the local markets".
From his side, Reinhard E. Dopfer, thanked Mr. Al Mutaiwee for his warm welcome, and for his support, and specified that they will require a great deal of help from the Chamber in requesting the commercial departments in the UAE embassies and consulates in the region to carry out market research amongst the local boutiques to help the Prestige organizers in contacting perspective exhibitors.
Mr. Al Mutaiwee offered the support of the Chamber in obliging this request, and advised that a fashion trade fair would be better accompanied by a fashion show to give a stronger impact as it links the products with the human aspect. He added that it may be a good idea to include top brand fashion accessories such as glasses, as that would showcase more products from the same brands giving the consumers a better idea of the designers work.
Mr. Ingo Klover welcomed the valuable advice, and explained that they could implement these ideas in September when 35 retailers from regional countries will be present in Dubai as part of the Prestige Club.
