New study reveals BEA helps developers build applications faster than IBM
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, February 10 - 2004 at 14:44
- PRESS RELEASE
BEA Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BEAS), the world's leading application infrastructure software company, has received a high recognition for its BEA WebLogic Workshop 8.1 for helping developers create an application nearly 8 times higher and with almost one-fourth the lines of code written or modified, as compared to building the same application with IBM WebSphere Studio Application Developer 5.
"The endorsement of WebLogic Workshop 8.1 as being far superior to the other existing systems consolidates further BEA's new generation solutions that bring several advantages to developers," said Diyaa Zebian, Regional Manager, Middle East and Egypt, eSolutions BEA. "Developers in the Middle East can now be strongly convinced that the benefits delivered by BEA cannot be matched by any other competitor, as this study clearly demonstrates BEA as a leader in this field."
The study was aimed at helping developers choose programming methodologies that enable them to "do more with less." As such, the report quantifies the productivity and architecture benefits of using the revolutionary development framework approach of BEA WebLogic Workshop versus the traditional, low-level J2EE development approach required by IBM WSAD.
The report found that BEA WebLogic Workshop 8.1 required 7.7 times fewer hours implementing an application compared to implementing the same application as IBM WSAD. It also showed that BEA's approach resulted in significant advantages when developing Web services (88 times faster), business logic (8.8 times faster), and Web applications (3.2 times faster).
The WebLogic Workshop 8.1 required 3.7 times fewer lines of code than the same application built on WSAD. The study found that BEA WebLogic Workshop 8.1 dramatically reduces costs and increases application quality by providing an architectural framework that enables developers to focus on writing business logic code and leverage re-useable enterprise-class architectures.
Further, the framework approach offered by BEA WebLogic Workshop 8.1 allows J2EE gurus to focus on architecture of enterprise-class applications, while corporate developers with a greater variety of backgrounds can implement business and presentation logic.
"We all know that time to market and quality are crucial to every developer. WebLogic Workshop 8.1 has demonstrated a considerable productivity and quality advantage. This advantage also triggers a significant increase in the value of developers who are able to fully leverage J2EE using the framework approach," added Zebian.
The comprehensive study was commissioned by BEA, and designed and executed independently by Crossvale, Inc., a provider of J2EE technology solutions.
