METITO uses latest state of the art technology to instal high-tech water treatment plant
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, February 13 - 2002 at 15:07
- PRESS RELEASE
METITO (Overseas) Limited has completed work on a prestigious water treatment plant for a major textile mill in the Pakistani port city of Karachi.
The plant installed and recently commissioned by METITO is capable of providing one million gallons of pure water every day and is one of the landmark projects the company has undertaken to date in Pakistan from their headquarters for Europe, Asia and Africa in Sharjah.
METITO Director of Business Development, Mr. Bassem Halabi who attended the official opening of the plant in Karachi, said: "The major problem facing the mill was that their water supply was highly polluted saline water from on-site wells. This is compounded by the fact that Karachi has no natural water resources and suffers from the problems of seawater intrusion and contamination from leakages in an ageing sewerage system.
"To overcome these problems, METITO used extensive pre-treatment techniques coupled with the most advanced membrane separation technology to ensure the production of pure water suitable for use in the dyeing process. The quality of water used can have a significant impact on the quality of dyeing which is why purity is so important."
Congratulating METITO on the quality of the plant, Mr Larry Afroze of Afroze Textile Industries, said: "I am delighted at the highly professional service METITO has provided and the excellent performance of this plant which is already saving us a considerable amount of money in the dyeing process."
Mr. Bassem Halabi added that METITO has also commenced marketing its water treatment and commodity chemicals in Pakistan that are produced at the company's own factory in the Hamriya Free Zone in the UAE.
The textile mill is the latest of a number of projects METITO has undertaken in Pakistan. The highest profile project to date was their work on the Hub River Power Plant near Karachi some years ago.
METITO (Overseas) Ltd Managing Director Mr. Fady Juez added: "We see great opportunities for our specialised services in heavily industrialised cities in Pakistan where natural water resources are scarce. In these regions, the need for the treatment of industrially processed water as well as recycling industrial effluent is extensive."
