Commenting on the selection of the DICC as the venue, Dr. Mohammed bin Fahad, Chairman Higher Committee of the Zayed Prize said, 'For a prestigious international event such as ours, the Dubai International Convention Centre offers an ideal setting with its versatility and wide range of adjacent function rooms and facilities.'

He noted that the DICC was an ideal venue suitable for both the award ceremony as well as for the conference and exhibition that will run alongside the event. 'The third edition of the Dubai International Conference on Atmospheric Pollution and Envirotex 2004 - an environmental trade fair will take place alongside the Zayed Prize creating a comprehensive environmental event that appreciates, recognises and promotes pioneering contributions in the field of the environment in accordance with the philosophy and vision of H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, President of the UAE,' Dr. bin Fahad stressed.

'Moreover, the event offers insights from international environmental experts while at the same time providing an opportunity for participating exhibitors to come forward and display their commitment to the environment as well as exhibit environmentally friendly products,' Dr. bin Fahad opined.

This exhibition would prove indispensable for organisations that have a direct influence over decisions that have a potential impact on environment management in the region.

The Zayed International Prize for the Environment 2004 is worth US$ 1 million and is the largest and most valuable environmental prize in the world. It was established in recognition and appreciation of the environmental achievements of His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence is the patron of the Zayed Prize, and will be presenting the achievement.

The goal of the prize is to promote the sustainable development and conservation of the environment through innovative pioneering contributions and achievements performed by various sources, ranging from scientists to institutions.
