Today, 17th February is the last day of the auction, and the last chance for people to own these marvelous creations.

There are two sizes of camels that are available, of 2ft height and of 6ft height. The smaller 2 ft camels are those that are currently being offered for sale on the Internet Auction. Those small camels made up a spectacular display in an exhibition called 'Parade of Nations', where each camel represented a particular country, reflecting the theme of Dubai Shopping Festival 2004, 'One World, One Family, One Festival'. This exhibition was arranged at the entrance to the Carpet Oasis, at the Dubai Airport Expo.

Patricia Palmer, reputed artist and coordinator of Camel Caravan, said, "These camels already have a huge fan following among people in Dubai. Be it residents or visitors, each person is struck by the camels that adorn so many corners. The design of this camel has been done with great attention to detail"

"The camels, based on an original sculpture we call 'Lulu', are life-sized teenaged camels, and the most endearing aspect is that even the peaceful expression seen on camel's faces has been captured. It has been many artists' dreams to work on these camels, because of the many opportunities presented, and we were especially pleased that each of the DSF 2004 Key Sponsors sponsored a camel", she added.

Kenneth Palmer, coordinator of the Camel Caravan Auction, said, "Through this auction, we aim to raise money for Children's charities and for the promotion of the arts in Dubai. We are sure that with the funds raised from the sale of these camels through our online auction, we can really make a difference in this community."

"The website for the auction is very easy to navigate, and the bidding process too has been kept simple. People will find that the accompanying images of camels will help to make up their minds since there are so many beautiful options", he said.

The Camel Caravan follows in the success of many similar projects in many of the leading cities. Choosing an animal that most closely represents the culture of the place, these community art projects enjoy the support of the leaders of government and business, the art community and the resident base. Here in Dubai, the Camel Caravan is being organized by Art Works LLC and enjoys the support and patronage of the Ruling Family of Dubai. Camel Caravan reinforces Dubai's commitment to nurture the arts and culture and create entertaining events for visitors and residents, while benefiting charities and the community.
