Innovative technology supports construction boom

- PRESS RELEASE
As the Middle East's Construction sector continues its expansive growth - fuelled by high-end development projects in Dubai and Doha, increased activity in Abu Dhabi and Kuwait City, and the long-term potential of the Iraqi reconstruction sector - companies in the region are investing in technology in order to compete at a global level.
Tekla's innovative software enables construction companies to deploy 3D modeling techniques in their design process, creating a digital real-world building, containing all of the project's geometrical and structural information.
"The Middle East - and the UAE in particular - is witnessing an unprecedented expansion in the number of business projects being undertaken, especially in the high-end construction sector, with visionary projects like the Burj Dubai, Palm Island and Hydropolis Hotel," said Paul McIver, manager for Tekla Middle East.
"As the rate of growth increases, there is increasing demand for sector specific technology that will reduce costs, increase accuracy of design, and enable construction companies in the region to rapidly develop plans for visionary buildings," added McIver.
The new product family includes Tekla Structures for Steel and Tekla Structures for Engineering, the rebranded and updated version of company's industry-leading software. Tekla Structures for Steel, previously known as Xsteel, is the industry leader in modeling and detailing steel structures, and has been used in the design of some of the Middle East's most famous structures, including The Tower on Sheikh Zayed Road.
Tekla is also introducing Tekla Structures for Concrete, the first software modeling and detailing product designed especially for the concrete sector. This solution gives users the opportunity to develop versatile and intelligent 3D models, which can be shared throughout the critically important detailing, fabrication and erection stages.
Tekla is currently training employees of United Precast Concrete in Dubai to use the new concrete solution, to aid its business development and support a number of ambitious building projects.
Based in Dubai for over two years, but with a regional base of customers, Tekla Middle East expects strong take up of its new offering among such well-known clients as Emirate Building Systems, Cleveland Bridge, J. Ray McDermott and Zamil Steel.
"We are working with some of the region's biggest names in construction and design, and they recognize the benefits of using Tekla software in their development plans. We will continue to focus on core Middle Eastern markets, and aim to gain aggressive market share in other countries that are increasing their investments in the construction sector," concluded McIver.
