Aljazeera.net, the leading online property in the Arab world and the online version of Aljazeera TV channel, today announced a strategic partnership with NetAdvantage (FZ LLC), the leading specialized regional online media house.

Under the terms of this agreement, NetAdvantage, a leader in the promotion and development of online marketing and advertising opportunities, will represent and promote advertising and marketing opportunities on Aljazeera.net, the most popular and globally recognized Arab world website with bilingual Arabic and English content and interactive features.

With offices in Dubai Internet City and across the Arab world in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt, and a portfolio of more than 100 top Arab world and global sites, NetAdvantage will take on its behalf the representation and development of online promotions, banner advertising, and email advertising for Aljazeera.net allowing advertising agencies and direct advertisers to tap into a lucrative and targeted audience of loyal Internet users across the Arab world and beyond.

"This agreement is a clear proof of the growing role of online advertising in the Arab world and its transformation from a niche advertising sector into a mainstream sector attracting the budgets of big spenders and leading marketers in the region. We are delighted to partner up with NetAdvantage to jointly tap into the revenue potential that this could bring to our organization" says Hamad Al Nuaimi, Director of Marketing of Aljazeera Channel.

Aljazeera.net, widely regarded as the de facto news and analysis website for Arab world users as well as global users with an interest in the region, will be able to diversify and increase its revenue and monetize traffic and visitors to its website and further leverage its unique content and interactive features. Launched in January 2001, Aljazeera.net has quickly assumed the leadership position amongst Arab world websites. During the war of Iraq, Aljazeera.net was ranked as the 45th most visited website worldwide, according to Alexa.com. Last year, Aljazeera.net has achieved an excess of 1 billion page views (impressions). Furthermore, to capitalize on its success, Aljazeera.net expanded beyond the region to tap into the global Internet community with the launch of its English language website in September 2003.

"The growth of online advertising in the region will be highly dependent on allowing big advertisers to tap into a wide reaching, reliable, and reputable network of online properties. We have designed the business model of NetAdvantage around providing such a solution for advertisers and offering them a one stop solution with unified reporting and booking process, and a dedicated team of professionals at their service across the region. Our partnership with Aljazeera.net is one more proof of the success of this model," says Khaldoon Tabaza, CEO of NetAdvantage.

In the past few years, online advertising has mushroomed in the Arab world from few hundred thousand dollars a year industry to a multi-million dollar industry as analysts predict that online advertising expenditure will cross the US$ 8 million mark this year. Internet usage more than doubled in the Arab world in the past couple of years with total Internet users expected to exceed 14 million by the end of this year.

About Aljazeera.net

Aljazeera has come a long way since it was launched in November 1996. Today the channel that sent shockwaves through the whole Arab world from its very first day on air has become a global name which people, governments, and decision-makers cannot afford to ignore. With more than 30 bureaus and dozens of correspondents covering the four corners of the world Aljazeera has given millions of people a refreshing new perspective on global events.

Free from the shackles of censorship and government control Aljazeera has offered its audiences in the Arab world much needed freedom of thought, independence, and room for debate. In the rest of the world, often dominated by the stereotypical thinking of news "heavyweights", Aljazeera offers a different and a new perspective. Aljazeera's correspondents opened a window for the world on the millennium's first two wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Our expanded coverage competed with and sometimes outperformed our competitors bringing into the spotlight the war's devastating impact on the lives of ordinary people. We continue to cover all viewpoints with objectivity integrity and balance. So now when Aljazeera speaks, the world listens and "reads".

Aljazeera.net is the online version of the same Aljazeera. In January 2001, Aljazeera.net (Arabic) was launched as the first mainstream Arabic news site and in no time, it rose to the top of the Arab media. In 2003, Aljazeera.net received more than 1 billion impressions. Boiling topics and heated debates along with objective news reporting and interactive feedback are the attributes that put Aljazeera.net amongst the 500 most visited sites worldwide.
