The event was attended by VIPS, GEC officials, university students along with a host of media representatives.
'This year IFEX has proven to us the potential success that will come in future exhibitions. More exhibitors, more attendance, more visitors and more investments have been made at IFEX 2004 and that, is for our participants' innovative creativity', said Mr. Ahmad Al Mazrouie, Acting Director General of GEC. 'IFEX's has become renowned in the market now, only after its third edition. Our outcomes have exceeded our expectations and we look forward to a brighter future for IFEX in the coming years', he added.
The design awards were granted by Mr. Ahmad Al Mazrouie, Acting Director General of GEC to the selected exhibitors and university students. The stand awards were divided into eight different categories; the Oriental Hall received the Most Creative Concept Award, the Art & Interior Design Company received the Best Stand Design Award in 'Furniture Display', Al Fayez International received the Best Stand Award in 'Classic Style', International Art received the 'Best Stand Design' Award in 'Neo-Classic Style', the Italian group at the Art & Interior Design Company received the 'Best International Stand Design' Award. J.C. Maclean received the Award for excellence in stand design of local manufacturing & Design, Al Aqili group received the Award for 'Excellence in Stand design', David Harber Sundials received the Award of Excellence in Unique 'Product Concept', CONEX received the Best 'Contractors Award'.
In the student category IDEAS 2004 Design Awards were granted to selected students from four universities; Zayed University, American University of Sharjah, Ajman University, American University of Dubai. Ms. Fakhira Hamile Al Ghaith from Ajman University received Prototype Furniture Award for 'Classic Style', Ms. Badria Jouhari from the American University of Dubai received the Prototype Furniture Award for 'Modern Style'. For the Interior Design Project Award; Ms. Nelofar Esfandnia from the American University of Dubai received the 1st Prize. For the Architecture Project Award; Ms. Loubna Emad El Zalek from the American University of Sharjah received the 1st Prize.
IFEX 2004; with its innovations and creativity in art and design, has attracted many individuals and institution from all over the United Arab Emirates and neighbouring countries. The coming IFEX 2005 expects to receive double the participation, with an even bigger reputation on its creativity and artistic trends.
GEC unveils the awards for the IFEX 2004
Under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Executive Council Member & Chairman of the Economic Department, the third International Exhibition of Concepts in Interiors & Furnishings - IFEX 2004, organised by the General Exhibitions Corporation (GEC) announced today the IFEX 2004 Design Awards to its exhibitors stands and to the university students who have participated from four major universities.
