As the visitors expressed surprise and delight at the sight of the snake, an EPSON Photo PC L400 digital camera captured the action, while an EPSON Stylus Photo R300 printer was used to print the photo. The photograph was given free to the participating visitors.

"As a key member of the Organising Committee and an active participant in the Dubai Shopping Festival 2004, the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department has not only introduced more streamlined visa procedures for our visitors but also added innovative touches to make their visit very unique," commented Major Jassim Abdul Ghafoor, Member of the Organising Committee and Head of Administration and Financial Affairs, DNRD. "The "Snake Jungle" provided the right start to the visitors' fun-packed itinerary in Dubai, allowing them to take a free instant print-out of their exciting visit to Dubai, thanks to the leading edge digital photography and printing technology of EPSON."

"The innovative welcome was part of EPSON's efforts to present visitors with a unique souvenir of their visit to Dubai," said Khalil El-Dalu, General Manager, EPSON Middle East. "We wanted to demonstrate technology that allows users to print directly at the same time as the picture is taken, without the need for a computer. The exercise shows the speed of our printers and the cutting edge technology that creates sharp prints."

"DSF is one of the most important events on the regional calendar and has over the years become a magnet for visitors from all over the world," said El-Dalu. "EPSON is proud to support this event by providing the instant printing facility and introduce visitors to high technology in printing, thus helping enhance the name of Dubai as an IT-savvy city."

The EPSON R300 printer combines the technology of 6-colour photo imaging system with the flexibility of printing directly from EPSON digital cameras, memory cards and even wireless devices. It does not require a PC for printing, because it supports a wide range of memory cards, allowing direct printing from digital cameras.

The PhotoPC L400, EPSON's most compact and comprehensive digital camera to date, features a 4.07 MegaPixel CCD to deliver quality, high-resolution images. Boasting a 3x optical and 2x digital zoom, users can capture perfect shots from anywhere and then preview their photographs on the sharp 1.5-inch LCD display. The dynamic EPSON PhotoPC energy management system allows standard AA batteries to take 500 Photos before the batteries need replacing or recharging, a facility that will be useful for families abroad or away from electronic retail outlets.
