Fujitsu Siemens Computers launches lightweight Tablet PC with stunning new features

Weighing just 1.54 kg, the new Tablet PC is primed for network and Internet connectivity, and powered by Intel® Centrino™ mobile technology with integrated wireless LAN, supporting 54 Mbit/s, an integrated modem and wired LAN data exchange via the new Gigabit LAN.

Just like its predecessors, the new slate models use a special stylus pen, which allows the users to take notes and have their handwriting transferred into typewritten text.

The STYLISTIC ST5010 has external drives and a docking unit that ensure flexible and ergonomic operation. A smartcard reader and security buttons with special access codes enhance security by obstructing unauthorized access to sensitive data. Moreover, the stable magnesium housing protects the system and data against physical damage in day-to-day use.

The STYLISTIC ST5010 series from FSC is especially tailored to customers in vertical markets, such as health care, insurance, sales, inventory management and market research. These vertical markets require a light device with a long battery life, basically a clipboard replacement to be used whenever people are on the move.

'One of the key areas in which the new STYLISTIC can be used is the hospital. It allows doctors and nurses to edit patient data on site at the patient's bed. After the visit, the device can be integrated in a docking station and doctors can use it as normal PC with keyboard and peripherals,' said Lewitzki.
