WATER MIDDLE EAST co-operates with Water Science & Technology Association (WSTA)

The organizers of WATER MIDDLE EAST have reached a landmark co-operation agreement with the Water Science & Technology Association (WSTA).

WSTA which is a GCC regional Association and based in Bahrain, was founded in 1987 as an initiative of a number of Scientists and Engineers from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries as the first scientific association in the field of water science and technology in the Arabian Gulf region and the Arab world.

WSTA has over 500 corporate and professional members from all over the GCC countries and is affiliated with numerous influential organizations from the international water community. The main objectives of WSTA are the exchange of information and know-how between water experts from science, water technology and industry and to spearhead the research for scientific and technical solutions to address the water problems in the region.

The cooperation between WSTA and WATER MIDDLE EAST is an important milestone in the further development of WATER MIDDLE EAST as the leading trade show for water technology in the region and is an assurance that the WATER MIDDLE EAST exhibition and conference will perfectly complement the bi-annual Gulf Water Conference which has been organized by WSTA since 1992.
An agreement has been reached between WSTA and WATER MIDDLE EAST in this regard. The agreement was signed here in Manama today, Thursday 19th February 2004 on behalf of WATER MIDDLE EAST by Shaikh Daij bin Salman Al Khalifa, Asst. Undersecretary for Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce, and by Mr. Abdullatif Al-Mugrin, President of the Water Science and Technology Association.

WSTA will assist the WATER MIDDLE EAST organizers in the following aspects:

1) Scientific Support for WATER MIDDLE EAST
2) Nomination of qualified Committee Members for the Conference Committee
3) Generation of scientific and technical support from affiliated international organizations
4) Setting-up and Co-Chairing the Conference Committee that is responsible for the Conference Program, Call for and Selection of Papers, etc.
5) Liaison with government and non-government agencies as well as related private sector organizations from the GCC and other Middle East countries.
6) Promotion of WATER MIDDLE EAST to all WSTA Members

WSTA will greatly benefit from its support for WATER MIDDLE EAST because of substantial gain in international recognition and great benefits for all members resulting from the cooperation.

The 2nd WATER MIDDLE EAST International Exhibition & Conference for Water Technology will be held from 13th to 15th September 2004 at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre concurrently with the 3rd POWER-GEN MIDDLE EAST International Exhibition for Power Generation.

WATER MIDDLE EAST 2004 will be held under the patronage of the Prime Minister, H.H. Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and will be organized by the Bahrain Convention & Exhibition Bureau and Nuernberg Global Fairs, a globally operating German government-owned exhibition organizer whilst POWER-GEN MIDDLE EAST 2004 will be organized by the PennWell Corporation.

Full support has also been pledged by the Ministry of Electricity & Water and by the Ministry of Commerce, Kingdom of Bahrain as well as many influential local and international organizations that are directly concerned about the water resources, supply and conservation in the GCC countries in particular and in the Middle East region in general.
