Called Movietime, it takes the number of film channels available on the network to 17.

Featuring all-time favourite films including blockbuster titles like When Harry Met Sally, Goodfellas, Silence of the Lambs, Pulp Fiction, The English Patient and My Best Friend's Wedding, all films broadcast on the new channel are exclusive to Showtime, the region's leading satellite pay-television network.

The 24 hour a day channel will be added at no extra cost for Movies Plus and Total Plus Showtime subscribers and, like all movie channels on the network, films on Movietime will be uncut and unedited with no commercial interruption and complete with Arabic subtitling.

Peter Einstein, Showtime president and chief executive, said: "With 17 channels of movies showing 24 hours of every day, Showtime offers an unbeatable choice of films with over 1,400 new film titles appearing every year at an average of four new movies every day.

"Every night a top Hollywood title will be broadcast during primetime as Showtime has the exclusive broadcast rights to the largest range of Hollywood studio productions."

The new channel showcases the most popular modern movies that viewers will want to watch again. All films are exclusive to Showtime with the majority between two and ten years old.

Peter Einstein added: "Content is king in the television business and Showtime's movie portfolio is unrivalled. The upcoming schedules are simply a movie-lover's dream."

The seven premium film channels on Showtime complement the network's Home Cinema™ pay per view service which offers ten screens of the very latest movies and live events.

"Home Cinema™ has the very earliest broadcast dates for many blockbuster movies which will be shown on Showtime shortly after their general release in key markets like the UAE and Egypt," confirmed Mr Einstein.

In addition to Showtime's two premium movie channels - The Movie Channel and The Movie Channel 2 - Al Shasha offers viewers the latest Arab cinema releases, Hallmark is the award winning world leader in movies that the whole family can watch together and Turner Classic Movies brings the greatest selection of movies from Hollywood's Golden age.

Now with the launch of Movietime Showtime has extended its lead as the number one source for movies in the Middle East by providing a complete channel that delivers a lifetime of your favourite movies.
